John’s involvement with music started from a young age as a clarinettist and quickly expanded to include music composition and production. In the two years prior to moving to Edinburgh to study Composition and Performance, John was selected as the Runner-Up in the Youth Category of the New York-based Marvin Hamlisch International Film Scoring Competition in 2016, and the Winner of the inaugural International Animated Film Music Competition organised by the Megaron - Athens Concert Hall in 2017.

John was selected by the University of Edinburgh as the Runner-Up of the Tovey Memorial Prize in 2018 and 2021 (for performance and composition respectively), and by the EUSO as the winner of the Emre Araci Composition Competition in 2018. He was also selected as the Winner of the Oticons Faculty International Film Music Competition in 2019, which provided him with mentoring by Hollywood veterans such as Richard Bellis, Gavin Greenaway, and Nick Wollage in the 2019 FMF Young Talent Award workshops (Poland), and Christopher Young in the 2019 Film Scoring Summer Programme (Bulgaria).

Having performed with orchestras such as the Underground Youth Orchestra (Greece), Young Euroclassic Festival Orchestra (Germany), and the Edinburgh University Symphony, Sinfonia & Chamber Orchestras (United Kingdom) as both a principal clarinettist and guest soloist since 2012, John has honed his musical skills and possesses a great knowledge of orchestral writing and playing that he utilises in his compositions.

He has also worked as a composer in a variety of projects, including theatre (“The Perfume of Love”, 2015), documentaries (“Villa Iolas: A Journey through Time and Space”, 2016), video games (“Sapiens”, 2020; “Farewell North”, 2021), as well as animated films, projections, and lighting installations during his collaboration with NL Productions in 2021.

John has also gained experience in the advertising world, having created custom music for promotional campaigns for clients such as the International Watch Co. (IWC), Grecotel Luxury Hotels & Resorts, Aeolos Beach Hotel, and Kontokali Bay Resort & Spa.

When working on a project, John strives to compose music that supports and enhances the story and the visuals by encapsulating the emotional essence of their sum and providing the viewer with a complete experience.
